Established in 1850, East Gwillimbury is a small town located on the East Holland River, falling
within the Regional Municipality of York. Part of the Greater Toronto Area of south-central
Ontario, the town of East Gwillimbury was formed through its amalgamation with various other
villages and hamlets, within the township. Of those villages, the main ones include: Hollan
Landing, Queensville, Sharon and Mount Albert.
East Gwilliambury has experienced steady population growth over the past twenty-five years,
characterized by rapid growth throughout the 1970s and 80s, which finally peaked in 1991, at a
