The community of Keswick is located in the south central portion of Ontario, part of the
Town of Georgina. Formerly known as Medina, Keswick is currently the largest community
within the Township of Georgian, accounting for roughly half of Georgina’s population,
which was 43,800 as of 2006.
The town of Keswick was formerly considered to be part of southern Ontario’s highly
coveted ?cottage country.? Those from in and around the Greater Toronto Area would regularly
make the commute from the hectic life of urban living, to relax in a serene locale, with much
to see and do. However, as of the 1980s, Keswick’s population has been steadily on the
rise as major highway development further opened up access to Keswick. Such developments
has seen Keswick grow from a sleepy cottage community, into a highly sought after bedroom
community for the cities of Newmarket and Toronto to the south.
As such, the community of Keswick provides the ideal setting for working and raising a
family as it provides safe, quiet neighbourhoods, situated near beautiful Lake Simcoe and nestled
amongst spectacular scenery and acres of farmland. Each neighbourhood provides a wide variety
of homes, suiting the needs and wants of first time home buyers to family homes to country
settings and lake front estates. This diverse area has something for everyone and the necessary
amenities that make living easy, without creating a big city feel.
For those who decide to take up residence in Keswick, there is much to see and do. From
numerous shopping areas, to a plethora of attractions to take in as one snakes their way along
the lakeshore, one will always find themselves being kept busy. Nearby agricultural areas, which
includes public and private beaches and marinas, as well as the Keswick Marsh, a part of the
World Famous Holland Marsh also provide opportunities to wind down in a relaxing, pristine
environment. During the winter months, Keswick becomes a popular destination for fishermen
and women from across the country who flock to the community to take part in the Canadian Ice
Fishing Championships on Lake Simcoe.
A great place to live, the community of Keswick is growing in popularity due to its rural
feel, but close proximity to major urban centres. Conversely, if you or someone you know
are interested in selling your Keswick home, private real estate is something to consider.
