Initially settled by Euopeans between 1801 and 1804, the settlement first became a village
in 1826. Since then, however, London (named after London, England) has grown into the largest
municipality in Southwestern Ontario. Current day London, Ontario is a city located along the
Quebec City-Windsor Corridor, with a population of 352,395 and a metropolitan area population
of 457,720, as of 2006.
Nestled at the forks of the Thames River, London is a special place to live and work. Those
who live in London are already well aware of the affordability, charm and security that this mid-
size community can combine with the business and career opportunities of a big city. Streets
lined with trees, beautiful and bountiful parks, expansive walking and biking trails and an
abundance of recreation facilities are just a sampling of the various features that entice many
families to experience living in London ? the best of both worlds.
But the City of London simply is not just a great place to live, it’s also a great place
to work, allowing residents the somewhat unique ability, in this day in age, to live and work in
the same town/city. London can boast as this is a city that has it all; exciting job opportunities,
fantastic tight-knit neighbourhoods, extensive and equally excellent educational and health care
facilities and plenty of things to do in ones leisure time. Everything you could possibly want in a
city, is all right at your doorstep, in London.
In a housing market such as London’s, there is potential to turn a significant profit on
one of your biggest investments. A great way to maximize your return on investment is to look
into placing your home for sale by owner. Venturing into private real estate is an option that has
helped many people selling their home by owner to save thousands of dollars every year, many
through the use of a flat fee MLS® listing. By choosing a company with a proven track
record and listing with MLS®, one will enjoy the support and exposure they need all the
while retaining as much money from the sale of your home as possible.
