Sharon is a former village located near the East Holland River, falling within the Regional
Municipality of York in the Township of East Gwilliambury. Part of the Greater Toronto Area
of south-central Ontario, the town of Sharon was formed through its amalgamation with various
other small towns, villages and hamlets, within the township. Of those villages, the main ones
include: East Gwilliambury, Hollan Landing, Queensville and Mount Albert.
Although it is a small town, residents of Sharon receive many of the services and amenities
that can be found in most other townships. For instance, the town operates three fire and
emergency services locations, located in Holland Landing, Mount Albert and Queensville. Each
is staffed by a District Fire Chief and volunteer firefighters. The town also offers Police services,
provided by the York Regional Police.
To make getting both getting in and out and around the town of Sharon possible, local
public transportation is provided by York Region Transit, who operate bus services to East
Gwilliambury, Holland Landing and Mount Albert. Go Transit also offers commuter train and
bus services to Toronto through its nearby East Gwilliambury Station, making trips to the city for
work or play easy and affordable.
In the mid to late 1980s, housing developments were built in and around Sharon. Further
developments have continued slowly around Sharon since 2002. Looking to sell your Sharon
