Vaughan is a city in the York Region, located directly to the north of Toronto, Ontario. As
its motto states, Vaughn is ?The City Above Toronto.? With Toronto to the south, the city of
Vaughan is bounded by Caledon and Brampton, to the west; King and Richmond Hill to the
north and Markham and Richmond Hill to the east. Vaughn is the fastest growing municipality
in Canada, having achieved a population growth rate of 80.2% between the years 1996-2006,

Transit has approximately 120 routes that connect the regions nine local municipalities. The
service operates from seven transit terminals, two of which are in Vaughan. Travelling internally
throughout Vaughn has also been made easy as York Region Transit operates a fleet of 101 Viva
Rapid Transit Buses, which operates along five routes. And finally, the Toronto-York Spadina
subway extension will soon bring the subway to Vaughn. This will include new stations at York
University, Highway 407 and the future Vaughn Metropolitan Centre, expected to be complete by
2015.
